Cynthia Barnett brings her new book The Sound of the Sea: Seashells and the Fate of Oceans to Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings’s home at the edge of Orange Lake. It is a book that Lauren Groff calls "as exquisite, many chambered and luminous as the shells Cynthia Barnett describes." Light refreshment and music followed by discussion by the author. Free with basic park entry fee. Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings Historic State Park at 18700 South County Road 325, Cross Creek, 32640. Call 325-466-3672.

Annual Holiday Party

The annual holiday open house at the Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings Historic State Park will be held Saturday, December 10, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The event will feature music, house decorations, and lighting evoking the firing of an orange grove during a freeze. We are so happy that the park has decided to revive this event, which was not held last year and which has been extremely popular in previous years. Hundreds attended the last in-person party in 2019!
