The 37th Annual Conference of the Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings Society will be held at the Northwest Square, 238 N Clara Ave., DeLand, FL 32720. The conference will take place Friday and Saturday, April 17-18, 2026.

Call for Papers

If you are interested in presenting at the conference, please submit your 1-2 page abstract to Dr. Ashley Lear (ashley.lear@erau.edu) by Oct. 15, 2025.

Topics related to Rawlings may include:

  • Rawlings’ place in Modernist, American, and Southern Literature
  • Her depictions of landscape, foodways, sex and gender roles, place, etc.
  • The Yearling as a bildungsroman
  • Ecocriticism and other themes found in her work
  • Rawlings and Florida
  • Her political attitudes and relationship with race
  • Family, friends, publishers, and contemporaries of Rawlings
  • Art and film, including adaptations, inspirations, etc.
